According to CCTV news citing Japan's "Asahi Shimbun" report on November 25, the price of second-hand cars in Japan has risen, and the price of some second-hand cars even exceeds that of new cars. The reason is that production of new cars has stagnated and demand for used cars has remained high. Small and medium-sized sales stores with relatively weak financial strength are gradually unable to purchase used cars.

"I have opened a store for more than 30 years, and this is the first time I have encountered such a difficult situation in purchasing used cars." The person in charge of a used car sales store in Nagoya City said with emotion in October. The store can display 40 cars, but there were only 20 at the time. In order to make the "blank" less obvious, the shop specially adjusted the distance between vehicles.
According to the report, used cars will only be produced when users give up the cars they own. But since 2020, the supply of new cars has dwindled. Due to the spread of the new crown epidemic, factories have ceased operation one after another. Coupled with the obstacles caused by the shortage of semiconductors, production cannot resume as expected. New car delivery times vary by manufacturer, with wait times ranging from months to years.
The report pointed out that due to the difficulty of getting a new car, people's demand for used cars has risen, and prices have risen sharply. At the same time, used cars, which cost more than new cars, also increased.
In February this year, the average transaction price of used car auction company USS was 1.006 million yen (about 51,600 yuan), a year-on-year increase of 20.1%. This is the first time since the survey was launched in 1999 that the average transaction price of used cars has exceeded 1 million yen. In September, it rose to 1.221 million yen (about 63,000 yuan)
