According to overseas media reports, Volkswagen will follow the example of automakers such as Tesla and export Chinese-made electric models to Europe, citing limited production capacity in its home market.
Volkswagen said on Friday that its Spanish brand Cupra will produce its first electric SUV, the Tavascan, at a VW Group joint venture plant in Anhui. This model is based on the same MEB platform as the ID. family, and it will enter the European market in 2024. This is also the second Cupra model based on the MEB platform.
VW said in a statement that "the Anhui plant was a plant with suitable capacity and technology when drawing up the production plan," though it added that it currently has no plans to produce other export models in China.

At present, many car companies have sold Chinese-made models in Europe, such as Tesla's Model3 and ModelY, BMW iX3 and so on. According to forecasts from authoritative organizations, the number of models imported by OEMs from China to Europe for sale will reach 800,000 this year.
