China's electric vehicle market is in full swing, and the electric vehicle market in the five neighboring Central Asian countries is just beginning to dawn. This area can only afford imported second-hand cars at present, but some people predict that it will become an electric car kingdom in the future!
So what are the inherent advantages of developing electric vehicles in Central Asia?
Air quality in several countries in Central Asia has recently been declining year by year as more and more cars flood the streets. Most of these new cars are used cars, mainly from the European, Chinese, American and Japanese markets.
Electric vehicles may be the ideal solution to this problem: they do not produce exhaust pollution by themselves, and in addition,For example, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan are big hydropower countries. Hydropower is a clean energy source, so electric vehicles hardly cause pollution.

Central Asia has excess electricity during the wet season in summer, coupled with the need to import a large amount of petroleum products every year. If electric vehicles are popularized, it will not only effectively utilize excess electricity, but also reduce oil imports, which will help Central Asia save much-needed hard currency to stabilize its social economy.
Second is the price advantage. While gasoline prices in Central Asian countries are affordable, electric vehicles can reduce the cost of car travel by about 50%. The lack of a conventional engine and multi-speed transmission keeps repair and maintenance costs to a minimum.

Finally, the large number of electric vehicles (EVs) connected to the grid will have a significant impact on the power system. Many vehicles are parked for more than 90% of their usage time. During the parking period of an electric vehicle, its battery has a large power storage capacity, so the EV can be used as a distributed energy source.
From this perspective, electric vehicles may be an important player in the future Central Asian power market.
In addition, there are two major advantages to entering the Central Asian market now:
1. Preferential policies

Previously, the main strategy in Southeast Asia was to cancel import tariffs on all components of electric vehicles. Recently, Central Asian countries have also successively cancelled import tariffs on electric vehicles.
On February 14, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on the priority tasks of mechanical engineering development. To achieve this year's goals, the following instructions are given: 1. A draft resolution on reducing the tariff on imported cars from 30% to 15% is drawn up within three days. 2. Localized production of electric vehicle parts and materials, and formulate technical requirements and standards for them. President Mirziyoyev said, "The production of electric vehicles is developing rapidly worldwide and occupies an important position in the automotive market. We must start practical work immediately so that Ukraine does not fall behind in this regard".
Kyrgyzstan announced as early as 2018 that Prime Minister Abel Gaziyev signed an order to reduce import tariffs on vehicles and implement zero tariffs on electric vehicle imports. In addition, preferential tariffs are imposed on hybrid vehicles with an engine cost equivalent to US$0.5 to US$0.6 per cubic centimeter, and zero tariffs on electric vehicles.

Tajikistan and Kazakhstan also have the largest preferential policies for electric vehicle imports and purchases. Especially in Tajikistan, in order to promote the development of green economy, Tajikistan plans to exempt electric vehicles, electric buses, trolleybuses and other electric energy vehicles from import tariffs within 10 years, and is also studying the exemption of value-added tax and consumption tax. question.
2. Competitive advantage
Unlike the Japanese competition and oppression in the Southeast Asian market, the Central Asian market is almost "a pure land". And people in Central Asia have a strong perception of Chinese brands. Whether it is a garbage disposal machine, a truck, or a daily necessities brand, the local response is particularly good.
3. Government support

The "International New Energy Pure Electric Vehicle Technology Forum" was held at the Conference Center of the International Institute of New Energy Sciences (MISE) in Tashkent, the capital of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
This forum is not only the scientific and technological and economic forum with the highest administrative level, the largest scale and the most influential participation in the new energy field in Uzbekistan this year, but also the economic and economic development of new energy vehicles in the Central Asian region with equal emphasis on forward-looking and industrialization. Professional top summit forum.

Central Asia is carrying out research and planning on the new energy vehicle industry, striving to promote the development of this emerging industry from a high starting point and at a high level.
In recent years, China has developed rapidly in the field of new energy vehicles, and has accumulated a lot of science, technology and experience. Cooperation with Chinese electric vehicle companies has great development prospects for Central Asian countries.

It's hard to say where electric vehicles are going in the future, but it's clear that they have a lot of potential to create a more sustainable future. If Americans used their current technology portfolio to convert all light-duty vehicles in the U.S. to hybrids or plug-in electric vehicles, they could reduce their reliance on foreign oil by 30-60% while reducing carbon pollution in the transportation sector by as much as 20%.
