The most prominent point is that for Cummins, Dongkang has an irreplaceable role model in the development of the medium and heavy commercial vehicle market.
Data shows that the domestic medium and heavy-duty commercial vehicle market has rapidly entered the era of high horsepower in recent years, especially represented by the tractor market. The market with a displacement of more than 12 liters has the most obvious performance. Only in 2020, this market accounted for more than one-third of the tractor market, and this data has soared to 52% in the first four months of this year, making it the fastest growing market in the structure.
And Dongkang's achievements in this market are very impressive. In order to continue to maintain an advantage in the high-power market, Dongkang has made multiple preparations.
On the one hand, despite occupying a leading position in the traditional fuel segment market, we still choose compatible multi fuel solutions in the high-power direction, in order to provide customers with more customized product services to choose from.
In an interview with China Truck Network, Shi Lei, deputy general manager and chief engineer of Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., said, "In 2021, Dongkang began to discuss how to build a multi fuel heavy horsepower engine. Since last year, we have begun to do some specific research and development work."
According to him, in the future, Dongkang will consider a series of research and development of a common base engine that is compatible with natural gas, diesel, and other low-carbon fuels in the layout of heavy-duty release engines. For example, the research and development of Hydrogen fuel is the future layout direction of Dongkang.
On the other hand, we will rely on the advantages of the newly launched intelligent heavy-duty factory to fully sprint in the diversified high-power market. Shi Lei told reporters that compared to the previous production line, the new factory production line has undergone many strong upgrades in production and manufacturing processes.
Firstly, Dongkang's newly launched heavy-duty production line is a hybrid line that will cover all diesel engine products ranging from 8.5 liters to 15 liters, including natural gas products, which will also be produced together.
Secondly, the advantages of digital scenes are obvious. This production line is a production line with numerous digital scenes, and many of our workstations are strongly related to our digitization, "Shi Lei emphasized.
It is reported that the new factory has achieved more than 20 digital scenarios, including robot visual positioning and fuzzy grasping, AI visual inspection, and robot intelligent inspection. There are a total of 28 automatic workstations on the entire line, and 33 new automatic workstations will be added in the future, with a digital automation rate of 50%.
Thirdly, the advantages of green and energy-saving are prominent. This factory is the first batch of demonstration green factories in the domestic commercial vehicle industry, which is efficient and energy-saving in low-carbon production.
